BUT DOES IT HAVE A HAPPY ENDING? I mean, I was in no way going to see this movie, because few things trigger my embarrassment squick harder than male strippers, but now I am all overinvested in Channing and his sad little briefcase of Trying To Be A Serious Businessman and the fact that no one in the entire world loves him. I mean, I now really want the movie to end with him meeting, hmm, a slightly older guy, maybe - not, like, creepy old lecher old, just someone slightly wiser and more experienced, loyal, good at business and money management, who'll love him in a respectful and quiet way and also occasionally impart some words of wisdom about how you can totally run the art business of your heart, but baby, let's have a talk about how advertising actually works.
I'm here in sort of a LIMITED TIME APPEARANCE, before I get crushed under real life obligations. Orrr...well, I don't know exactly what will happen, because sometimes the expansion of responsibility somehow sort of almost creates more space in your life for downtime things like fandom? We shall see. Also, my sample size of one tells me that pregnancy and nursing hormonal fluctuations do some FUNKY things to ones' interest/energy level for writing about naked men being naked together, so. we'll see

IT WAS SO GOOD. The thing is, it was also good in a HA HA MAGIC MIKE way AND a TRAGIC STRIPPER DOLLARS way and a WHEN WILL THAT THING WITH THE CORSET AND THE STRIPPER DANCING BE UP ON YOUTUBE, I MEAN..UHHHHH...FOR...RESEARCH...STUFF THINGS...way.
Well, fuck. Best damn review of this movie I’ve seen. Channing Potatoes indeed. I think you should mention how the dialogue in this film is like, you know, real dialogue that real people might conceivably say to each other. He calls his future girlfriend a “brother,” then corrects it to sister. :D
I kind of liked all the flirting banter, cause it felt like real flirting and not CLEVER HOLLYWOOD FLIRTING, and Channing Tatum is really good at it. For reals, one of my favorite parts of the movie was him picking up the sorority girls at the beginning. Because he put them at ease, and was totally not creepy, and was inviting them to perv on him all they wanted. It was kind of awesome.
I know! I mean, flirting in movies so often ONLY works because the girl is flirting with Brad Pitt or whatever, so...obviously she's into it, but if a normal dude did that it would never work and in fact be super gross. Now, obviously Channing Tatum is obviously also a handsome movie star who is good at being charming, but the content of what he does is still pretty believable as something that would actually work.
