just out of curiosity

To all you college people:

How much does your hometown/area you are from affect your daily life? Do you feel "hometown pride"? How often do the differences between different areas come into conversation?

Just wondering...

I definitely felt a nice swell of hometown pride when GMU knocked UNC out of the tourney today.

I always get the "oh you're from TJ / Oh you're from northern virginia" eyeroll when people ask about it, and yeah, we do talk about differences some. I have friends from very rural areas (self-described hicks, lol), and I can't imagine their way of life and they can't imagine mine. Sometimes i'm proud, sometimes i'm ashamed, sometimes i just don't think about it. Some differences, but not hugely so. Why do you ask?

I've realized that the topic comes up a lot here. So I was wondering if it was just us or not.
