I've been reading actual books a lot the past couple of weeks. Here's what I think of 'em:
I read this last week or the week before. It has an odd tone to the writing, as if there's something mysterious going on and to be honest, towards the end where I thought we'd got a resolution to this feeling, it was kind of anticlimactic. I don't want to give anything away about the plot except that the story's told from Kathy's POV and she lives at a school called Hailsham. There's something special about the kids there and the whole plot's really unique. I enjoyed the book and looking forward to seeing Carey, Keira and Andrew portray these characters in the movie.
I probably need to thank
poppypickle for introducing me to these books since she wrote a one-shot fic and I was pondering what to read after Never Let Me Go so I thought this would be a safe choice. A lot of people on my Twitter feed have also commented on it so I gave it a go. I like them. I really like them. I'm not usually one for reading about the ideas behind these books -- anti-government/beourgeois/capitalism, revolutions, etc -- but the way Suzanne Collins writes about it, makes me want to read more. Plus, Katniss our protagonist kicks major ass and there's some shippy stuff happening with her, Peeta and Gale that appeals the shipper-happy side of me. The third book in the series comes out August 24th, which is good timing for me.
*Btw, if anyone wants to read these and hasn't yet, I've got the pdf and word files of the book, ahem, if you want them. I will buy them at some point because I hate to download books without paying (and I tried, honestly I did, but there's no e-books available for it in NZ and Barnes and Noble doesn't sell internationally - so they told me after I had gone to the trouble of registering and downloading their app, but whatevz, B&N. Whatevz.).
I'm reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo next so I'm hoping it's a good'un.
Also, I'm making love secrets, or love things rather, for my flisters later today. Have a good weekend everyone <3
