I have always felt like I let my friends down because I wasn't there, unless I was chewing out the survivor (because he went in late) for his belief that he could have saved them....
Your post was maybe a step to forgiving myself. I'm glad you were able to reach your family and friends. Thank goodness for the electronic age we are in.

God I can only imagine what it was like actually being in NY when this happened. It was horrific enough just watching it on TV.

After posting my answer, I was curious to see what others had to say, and to this point yours is the only one that led me to comment.

I remember my own feelings, but I cannot imagine how horrific it must have been to be there when it happened.
