Mmm, popcorn...

Alright, so Keira Knightley will (apparently) be playing Elizabeth Bennet in a new big budget adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Which is fair enough - she's the right age, does indeed have "fine eyes", and knows how to play a spirited young lady (a la Elizabeth Swann). I think she'll be good.

But Brad Pitt as Mr Darcy?!! Oh dear god, NO! This ( Read more... )

We have had a debate on your news of Mr Darcy here (me and the tall bloke in the corner who reckons he lives here ;-)) and we think we are spoiled for anyone else by Colin Firth too. If someone else has to try it, though, we vote Daniel Day-Lewis.

Daniel Day-Lewis would be good, actually. The only other I can think of is Jeremy Northam, and that's probably because he was in Emma. They both have that sort of presence :)

BRING BACK THE FIRTH

Your not alone, Brad Pitt as Darcy - NO!

Colin Firth will be the only Darcy I shall EVER accept.

One does wonder, shall the shirt scene remain? Its not in the book but...SHIRT SCENE!

I think that Spiderman 2 is due out on the 16th of July, but that could be my mistake..

Oh really? Thank-you! I could only find American sites, so I wasn't at all sure about that date :)

And hell yeah, the shirt scene, with the lake and the diving-in-ness, needs to stay. Pity it's not in the book...

BLASPHEMY!!! *hyperventilates* Nothing against Brad Pitt, but Mr. Darcy?!?!?!?!? Come on people!

And the people who shot Troy are both gods for doing so as well as morons for leaving out Odysseus. Because he's like, the other main character on the Greek side. And they just shot their chance of successfully connecting Troy to its sequel. Way to go Hollywood.

(See? Even my Mr. Darcy's pouting at this strange turn of affairs. Nobody beats the Firth.)

Odysseus is in it! I'm pretty sure Sean Bean plays him (if I'm not getting mixed up), but apparently no other character actually refers to him by name. He thinks up the idea of the Trojan Horse, yeah? So, I think only people who are familiar with the story already will be able to recognise Odysseus by his actions in the movie. :) But he *is* there!

YAY! There goes one thing that's taken care of. Now all I have to do is to make sure that the two leads eventually fall in love with me... *cough*

What? Brad Pitt! No, please no. *wails* Don't sully my favourite novel with such a terrible cast. I have nothing against Keira Knightley as Lizzy, but Brad Pitt... *facepalm*
