The weather is at that indeterminate point where it's hard to decide if there's any need to have hot water to shower in or not. Hot, but not brutally hot - 32 now, and maximums not above 37 all week

Being a cake pundit sounds delightful. I wonder if they have seen any of the baking shows, like Great British Baking Show (it's all over YouTube) and were hoping that you could teach them the fine art of buttercream, caramel, and Victoria sponge? And so interesting to hear the lingual shift from "neighborhood."
Hello! Great to see you! :) And, yes, I think it's probably exactly that, internet cooking shows, which is sparking this interest - and I run out of expertise a long way behind Mary Berry! I'm shaky on what exactly a Victoria Sponge is - whether it's a plain cake, or the very light sort of cake which is called "sponge cake" in Australia - if it's that, I've never made one. I've never made a pavlova, either - and those two things between them would rule me right out of any cake-making contention in Australia. :( Language is so fascinating - I will chase up that business about "neighbourhood", just for the fun of knowing. :)
