For a first tat I'd do the middle one. You can add to it later. I got this mental picture of a an eye peeking out from inside it, or something else that inspires you. :)

Get it done in india ink first or some other semi-permanent so that you can wear it around a bit first. Make sure you like it, then get the permanent one. :-)

It comes out of my nearly lifelong fascination with steampunk. I love clockwork, machineworks, carefully crafted things that work on precise cogs on a grand scale. Also, I love the image of a cog. I've wanted a tattoo for a very long time, but it's taken a while to come upon an image that I'm comfortable with being with me for the rest of my life.

I love me some gears.
