And now, because I feel especially wierd today and have nothing really interesting to say about my boring life... I present to you, this.. the thing that would happen if the elements of the periodic table happened to be pokémon. ( Read more... )
There actually is (or was) a book that did explain qauntum physics to children actuyally. It was with a squirell which would go as far as explaining qaurks where the smallest particle known. (it was very old which may be the reason, or they just didn't want to make it even more complex?)
The book was originally Finnish, but was translated to English, I recall having seen it once...but never seen it again ever after. As I do not truly know the title off it, I am afraid it's hard to find back :\
I guess they just have a thing for making children's books with subjects you wouldn;t normally introduce to young children. The more extreme examples would be the "My first Mythos" and other Cthulhu inspired books. That said, I would be interested in getting the Godzilla children's books though. for fun ;) Though I'd easily add the squirell with qauntum physics just as easily. It are geeky things to have, but hey..as a scientist we are entitled to celebrate our geekyness.

*Standard model is about the sub atomic particles (gluons, quarks, muons, bosons, etc)
