(1) Zeroshapiro told me it was snot freezing cold in Troy. She wasn't kidding. The east coast humidity is apparently not as bad as in other places. Troy is right on the Hudson, and I have a suspicion that pressure differences between coastal and upstate New York tends to maintain a fairly steady stream of air blowing through the Hudson river valley ( Read more... )

Heh- most of the stuff you said didn't really surprise me. I'm sorry you didn't meet any cool graduate students.
I can't wait to talk to you in person so you can tell me which professors said what.

I met with Cramer, Plawsky, Scharfstein, Martin and Naumann. I think that Martin was hired after you left. It's funny, he is about my age and a black guy. Kinda hot, too ( ... )

Heh. I wouldn't say that the graduate students I met weren't cool. They just weren't like the graduate students I know here. They all sort of vaguely reminded me of that guy from office space that liked the gangsta rap. It's not a bad thing, just different.

Wow- I totally forgot about Plawsky. I totally thought that he was a strange bird.
I really really like Cramer, though. I think he's a really great guy.
Ha ha...Naumann! That guy is totally nuts. Did he have his dog with him?
I don't recognize any of the other names. Gill sounds familiar but I don't think that I interacted with him at all.
Are you going to be at the party tonight? I really want to talk to you !
