I suppose anything nonlethal is bearable.
Abandon the aspects of Mexico that you are applying to this place. Besides, truthfully, I am in the smaller town of Hilversum which is just outside of Utrecht. Movie Europe isn't such a bad place to start. I'll post up some pictures as soon as I download an ftp client and then you can see a bit of it.
I do imagine how 712 is going on. Alie is probably already up and moving around. The rest of the house is sleeping a bit more. Light is coming in the windows. Aiko is prowling and making trouble. You are dreaming...
the aspects i was applying were from the quiet cities away from the main tourist track, like cuernavaca and villa hermosa.
the thing is that mexico is the only place i've been to that really felt old. stone streets that have seen centuries of feet, churches that are almost as old as god, that sort of thing that i imagine is common place in europe.
also, in mexico, i could understand people only if they spoke slowly or switched to english. as such, social interaction was largely a blur of half-grasped words and fragments.
I cannot understand people even if they are speaking as if to the slowest of children. Dutch is a confusing and bizzare language. It is written like german but spoken like someone is playing a joke.
All of Europe has the feeling of being old. Hilversum is strange in that it feels like the oldness is a bit put on.
The Mexico that I saw was nothing like this. Then again, I was in Puerto Vallarta which is not the best example of true Mexico that I can imagine.
School has just served Friday's bacon and eggs mid-morning snack. I am going to teach my first class of the day in 18 minutes. For some reason, when I drink coffee in the staff room while other people are around, I always end up slurping loudly. I am sure at least one person in the room cringes everytime. Gross?
The view of Toronto hasn't changed.
I am glad you made it there safe and sound.
I just tried to cruise the internet for utrecht webcams, there seem to be a few, but I can't quite find them.. getting lost in la dutch.
The new pad sounds decent and I have found a temporary and delicious solution to your lack-of-oven problem.

see you soon.
i wish i had been to Utrecht before so that i could envision your experience as you must be envisioning our continued lives in toronto.
in my mind you are walking through a mishmash of Mexico, Movie Europe and the incomprehensible Netherlands of Galatea 2.2.
i don't know if the real thing could be half as strange as it is in my imagination.

I can't draw pi. I can only bake it or argue about it.

They sound fantastic...
and might rock your world,
not that your world needs too much rocking
at this minute.
Dining with Bernie tonight,
I will toast to you.
an aside: The airport arrival was successful?

I was so excited about the toaster pastries that I missed the initial baking step. Surely that can happen in a toaster oven.
You will paste on!

Tell me all about dinner with Bernie. That guy kills me. I assume we are talking about the designer and not the host.
