church at christmas

I'll be here in Oxford on Christmas Day. I stopped going to Mass some time ago now; religiously I am in an uncertain and no doubt transitional state. Still, I am considering going to some kind of church on Christmas Day (probably not on Christmas Eve, as I have been invited to dinner with friends and may not return in time). Any recommendations? I used to go to ChCh for the music, despite being a Catholic. The Oratory was definitely not my version of Catholicism, and though I liked what little I saw of Blackfriars, I always seemed to show up at a mass that turned out to be in Spanish or Polish, and Greyfriars was such a trek from where I lived...

As a ceremonial deist, I envy your location. I would go to them all. :-)

Mary Magdalen (liberal high Anglican, opposite the Odeon and behind the Martyrs' Memorial) has a good choir and the sermons are usually good. Of course, I'm biased, as I would be going there if I wasn't at home. The High Mass is at 10.30.

I'd be at Blackfriars were I in Oxford, having visited most of the other Catholic places there in my time.
