Sorry to hear about the French oral (and I completely understand about lack of motivation. Mine was the tip of a crazy iceberg, though, so I hope it is not the same for you!).
I am glad you didn't drown while on holiday! Yay for nice food (which American confectionery?) and being pretty okay and your oesophagus behaving! Stress and exams and angst are, of course, less good. Good luck with it all; you will kick the exams' arses.
(What books and TV? After Finals, I am almost certainly going to press Dollhouse on you and insist on hearing YOUR THOUGHTS on each episode. It's taken over my brain.)

I did not drown! I might have alarmed my family somewhat by explaining to them what frithinthorns had explained to me about Popular Misconceptions Of Drowning Vs The Scarier Reality, but I thought it best to be prepared...

Your parents should have been grateful for the information - preparedness is all. Was this about how real!drowning is much quieter and less dramatic (and thus less noticeable)?
