I'm on a serious Sleeping Beauty binge as I prepare to start writing my retelling. For your enjoyment, another retelling, the poem Carabosse. (Carabosse, and not 'Maleficent', is the originaly name of the unpleasant fairy. I highly prefer Carabosse because it doesn't sound evil

Yes, but 'bosse' is 'bump', so there's still an undercurrent of... ugliness, if not evil, in the French version.

Surprisingly enough, I believe I read Sun, Moon and Talia in my entire class on fairy tales that i took last semester. Yes, I said it. I took a class on fairy tales. I'm just THAT awesome. There's a whole bunch of really weird fairy tales/ fairy tale themes.
