Ah, the weekend. Epiales had just finished his last shift of the week at the sleep clinic and was now slowly making his way through the crowded streets. There was a wide smile on his face as he brushed his hand against the people who passed him, perfectly unaware of the effect that little contact would have on their dreams.

He pulled up the hood of his coat, trying to shield himself from the cold as he decided he'd had enough of fun for the day. What he needed now was the warmth of the complex, a stiff drink and some good company.

And just like that he spotted someone he half recognized, heading in the same direction as he was. A few long strides was all he needed to catch up with the woman. "Must be my lucky day," he greeted her. "It's not every day one just happens to run into someone as gorgeous as you."

Calliope stopped, almost mid-stride. She was (sadly) used to the locals' bizarre come-ons and comments but this didn't seem quite the same. She bit her tongue, opting against giving some acidic response (her specialty, it seemed, these days) and scrutinised the man instead.

"I know you," she said. There was nothing uncertain in her tone. She knew enough, at least, to recognise her own sort in the melting pot of Manhattan. "Oh!" She smiled slowly. "Are you Dream? If you are not, I'm afraid I shall have to hit you with my handbag."

The mildly irritated look on her face made him smile. Ever since he'd been thrown into this strange city he'd been complimenting beautiful women as he walked by them on the street but the response had been surprising. If he'd learned something from it, it was this: there was a thousand and one ways to use the word 'fuck', and most of them weren't very friendly.

"Dream indeed," he nodded at her. "I would prefer to not have to be humiliated in the middle of the street, so please put your handbag away, dear Calliope."

"Would it be humiliation? I am quite sure the locals would think that it is simply some form of entertainment." Nevertheless, Calliope keeps her bag tucked under her arm and takes Epiales' arm with the other hand. "But this is a rather expensive bag and I won't punish your impudence today."

She gave him a smile at that. "It is nice to meet you, face to face."
