alright, so it's been a while . . . i promised luz an elaborate synopsis on the boy . . .
so i got this crush on a boy in my orgo class and and after a whole lotta encouragement from my friends grant and zach, i ended up asking him to go to this latin dancing school sponsored function (they taught you how to salsa and merengue(sp?) and he went. we left pretty early, and we went eventually ended up at his place where we watched about a boy. then we walked to the grotto, because my mom had been telling me to go, and then he walked me back home. saw him in class the next fews days, strutted around in my cutest warm clothes . . . then the next weekend he asked if i wanted to hang out, and of course, i was all for that. so we went to a musical (a musical about love, i didn't know this until we got there) and after that we watched newsies! (his choice). sometime during the middle of the movie he put his arm around me, and then we held hands and snuggled for the rest of the movie. the next day (sat) we watched the last samurai through the school and held hands through that, and he asked me to be his girlfriend later that night.
and now it's a month and a half later . . . probably closer to two months now actually, i'm not sure. he's actually the one that remember our one month anniversary. he's also the one that reminded me earlier today that our first movie together was actually about a boy and neither the last samurai or newsies.
it's been fun. i've been experimenting :) and he'll be in ireland all next year . . . which gives me a good excuse to go to ireland for some random break . . . actually, i'm going with a friend to ireland for spring break, we planned this before i got together with him to visit another friend. and that's about it :)
his name is brendan, he's a biochem major, he wants to do researching as a career, he's in the school's marching and concert band (he plays trumpet), and his current area of research has something to do with proteins and molecular motors in yeast (one of them is PIP). oh yes, he also knows pi to ~20th digit, is allergic to peanuts, bananas, apples, all nuts, and melons. it figures i would find a guy like that . . . . . .
here's that list of the first 10 songs when i hit shuffle on my playlist (yes, click on the colon)

there was something else i wanted to say . . . i was supposed to think of it while i was typing out that silly list.
oh yes! i'll be here until may 20th or so . . . whatever that friday closest to that date happens to be, then i'm off to southbend again. i'll be back for the last two weeks of my summer though, maybe . . .
so i took this course over the last semester that's basically an independent research project. my group consisted of me, zach, grant, erin, clair, and steve and we worked on the effects of genistein (an isoflavonoid phytoestrogen . . . protein extract from soy) on PC-3 and LNCaP cells (both human prostate cancer lines) . . . the former cell line is p53 null and androgen receptor minus while the latter has both of those things . . . our objective was to see if genistein acted through an acetylated-p53 mechanism to induce apoptosis (or necrosis) or cell cycle arrest (G2/M phase arrest versus G1/S) . . . well we couldn't get our LNCaP cells to grow because they don't stick to anything! but the results we did get suggest that genistein doesn't even act through a p53 mechanism, and if it does, it isn't acetylated. we also use cg-1521 in lncap cells to keep the p53 acetylated.
anyway, we only got halfway done with the project so we want to go back over the summer and finish it because the professor we work under said if we get good results, we may get published in a scientific journal, which would be way cool . . . incidentally, the boy found some surprising results in his research, so if all goes well, we could be getting published at the same time! very exciting, i know
so you guys should try to hang out with me sometime before whatever the friday around the 20th is! XD
the place i'll be staying at is nice though; its the basement of a house that's run by grad students (partaaay!) and it's complete with very large trampoline, pool, pool table, cable, and internet. it's going to be rocking. not to mention my current and future roomie will be there taking summer school and so will another 2 other good friends. grant and erin and zach will also stay for the project, claire already had a summer internship lined up and steve is just weird. oh yes . . . the boyfriend will be there too to do his research ;)
that's it!
call the cell or house phone! i'll be here until then :)
oh yeah, and on sun, i'm going to unf
