There are no true war stories apparently. Don't believe any of them. Unless the questions that you ask afterward don't matter. Then it is true. Or well, it's not true but it is true. Also, they don't generalize. Because war isn't just hell, it is many other adjectives as well. There are no truths in war, because everything is just told as it seems ( Read more... )

By the way, I loooooooove Tim O'Brien. I've actually read Things They Carried before, it's sitting somewhere in my bookshelf. I have another book of his short stories...no actually make that two more. One's called In the Lake of the Woods and the other one is called To Skin a Cat. They're both really good but it's been a while since I've read any of his stuff. You can borrow them if you like? Or maybe you're not really as excited about him as I am/was.
