Miyavi pulled the scarf tighter around his neck. Kana had made him the bright green and yellow scarf as a token of friendship. At the thought of Kana, Miyavi’s stomach sunk to somewhere between his big and second toes. He was still disgusted with the way he acted but he couldn’t help his jealousy. He was jealous of the time Kana spent wit h other people because he wanted to be with her more and couldn’t. Kana didn’t feel the same way about him as he did her. “ I think I might love her,” Miyavi thought, a shock wave ran through him at the new insight.

Miyavi walked back towards the castle; the crunching of snow was the only sound in the courtyard. Dusting snow off, Miyavi made his way to the castle’s lounge. Much to Miyavi’s delight, the fireplace in the lounge was lit and he began to warm himself by it when his heart sunk to meet his stomach. On the couch was Kana who had stopped reading when Miyavi walked in. Miyavi grew cold and it wasn’t because of the winter. He was certain that the temperature inside the building had dropped ten degrees.

“I’m sorry for the way I acted earlier.” Miyavi gulped and prayed that his apology would be accepted. To his surprise, Kana smiled. “It’s ok, I think I understand.” Miyavi must have had a strange look come across his face because Kana explained. “You were jealous, weren’t you? I mean it’s no secret you fancy me, I mean…” For the second time that night, Kana surprised Miyavi. As she blushed, Miyavi could feel the warm rise in his own face. Taking a brave leap, Miyavi sat next to Kana on the couch and stared deep into the fire. Turning to look at Kana, Miyavi mysteriously asked, “Kana, what does snow become after it melts?” Kana slid under Miyavi’s arm before answering. “It becomes Spring.”

NOTES:
1) That last couple lines "what does snow become when it melts..." is from vol.2 of Fruits Basket...while I was writing, I knew I had heard it before and found it there. ^_^
