Wait! If you're just starting out with Hemingway, I definitely do not recommend "Death in the Afternoon." Not a bad book but it's a little weird. It's about bullfighting in Spain, something of which Hemingway was quite the aficionado, with a little philosophizing like that quote thrown in. You might start with his short stories, he was a master of the form, or his first novel, "The Sun Also Rises." The last thing he wrote, "A Moveable Feast," a memoir of his younger days in Paris, is very good.
