Staying with what I know

So I didn't jump on the team lead position.  They couldn't really define what the position would be and I had a feeling it would end up being a lot more hours working with very similar pay.  I know I could have learned from it.  And maybe I should have taken it.  But I value my time ( Read more... )

I think what you're feeling is alienation. It's a personal problem only in its immediate effect on you, but really a social problem that affects just about everybody to one degree or another ( ... )

He he! That was quite the ray of sunshine :)

It's true though. Whether you work from home of in a cube, or don't have to work. I think everyone feels some kind of isolation.

I am such an idealist. I don't seem myself giving up on the search for improvements in life and work. Not that I think that's what you are suggesting :)

I do not think that it is possible to have a job that is both inspiring and high-paying. Although, some people manage to convince themselves that they love their job 100% of the time.
A job implies not having a choice in what you do, unfortunately. Having your own business means that you have that choice, at a risk of not making money : )))
But being on call 24/7 every day is brutal! I honestly can't believe your management is getting away with this.
