So 2011 has started off

shittily, literally.  Shit.  about mid day Jan 1, I was doing laundry, cleaning the last of the dishes from my sister's party, and Lance was showering.  And the the water started to back up in the bathrooms.  F@#$!  Really, at so many levels.

At least it never overflowed onto the floor.

So the problem is the sewer line from outside the house to the street.  We got it cleared on Jan 2 and they said it was busted in a a few places and they would just clog up again, probably really soon.  We got a plumber out today, and folks, the news was really disappointing.  He's the son of a friend of my parents and I think he's giving us a better deal because of that, but damn it's a kick in the gut,

The problem is that the sewer line runs under the garage. If he cut the concrete through the garage and dug a trench, it could mess up the foundation and make it unstable (cheapest option $6,000).  If he tunnels under everything, driveway and all it would be $14,000.  The other option is trenching through the driveway, then tunneling under the garage ( $9,000).  My stomach hurts.

We're doing the 3rd option.  I feel so crappy right now.  Seriously, I feel like I'm gonna cry.  At least the other house is rented.  But I thought we had just made it through the woods and were back in a position to have some money to get out a little with friends and start fixing little things at the new place.

I so wish we had gotten the sewer line checked when we had the house inspected.  That's not included in an inspection by the way.  A plumber has to do it and it's like $150 - $300.  It would have been so worth it.
