This story will be probably be old news (although it's not over yet!) to the Americans on my friends list as it's been brewing for a while, but as it's not had a lot of coverage over here in the UK (or anywhere else I would imagine), thought it was worth highlighting:

sadly, this is NOT old news here. While these events have been unfolding for months and lots of liberal blogs have been talking about it, it seems like the mainstream media only realized something was up last week!

It is amazing how people are bending over backwards to deny the racism going on there... those quotes are perfect examples... and by 'amazing' I mean APPALLING!

Agree it is appalling - especially as it's so freaking obvious!

Also, I guess the fact that it's only just reached American mainstream media in the last week is the reason why its now reached UK media as well. I also heard about it through blogs & livejournal communities originally.
