i started a blogger.com account as i've been having this nagging desire to do a proper feminist blog for a while. i'm not sure why i felt the need to create a new blog, when i've already got one that i hardly write in, but there you go. i guess i just like to keep things nicely separated or something. I'll see how it goes, i might cross-post over ( Read more... )

I have several, I tend to use blogger.com for art posts rather than livejournal because I see it as less personal. Although that may just be me.

hey, thanks for replying. i think that's the same reason why i'm doing it. but at the same i'm wondering if trying to separate the personal blog from the political is kind of an artificial and unhelpful distinction. haha i'm definitely thinking about it too much!

I have started and (mostly) abandoned a number of other blogs. They were mostly concerned with art/theatre projects. I know of several people who have more than one blog. This is usually to separate the personal/private from a more public form of writing or debate (e.g. academic, political, fanfic). I think for quite a lot of people if they want to write for a number of different audiences or engage in debate in different arenas it saves a whole lot of "why haven't you friended me" or "why have you locked me out of certain posts" etc heartache and difficulty to simply have different blogs for different arenas.

And Congratulations on Starting your PhD.

Thanks! (re: phd)

Yes it makes sense for people to have different blogs for different purposes. The whole friend lock thing makes things complicated, i agree, because you have to remember not to refer to things in friends-locked posts in the open ones as then they won't make sense... i don't think i'd be very good at that.

another reason why i decided to start a new one is because most people who do the more public blogging don't seem to use livejournal so i thought it might be harder to get any readers...
