Tradition, tradition [tradition]!

I'm writing a story about the Golem. Does anyone have any stories, texts, or films to suggest on the subject of golems and dybbuks? I've seen Der Golem, have read several variations of the Golem story (albeit exclusively versions in which Rabbi Loew is credited with its creation), and am currently reading the Sefer Yetzirah. On dybbuks I'm not so ( Read more... )

HI I LOVE YOU!!!!!

I got your package a couple days ago, and you have no idea how happy it made me!! I jumped up and down and got so excited over every little bit of it, and then I put it away and took everything out piece by piece and got excited all over again! Thank you so much! You are amazing, and I almost can't wait for the unbearable cold of Northampton so I can wear the scarf. =DDD

Also, funnily enough, the The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay has references to a (the?) golem in the first third of the book or so. Don't know if it's worth reading just for that, especially considering I've got 250 more pages to go, but there you have it.

HOW YOU DOIN??? I miss you like a hermit crab misses his home when his shell gets repossessed.

Jamieroquai!!

I'm so so so sorry it took me so long to get it to you, but I'm so so so glad you like it! I sure wish you'd wear that scarf with me in Paris, but then, I would also hate to deprive you of tea at the Haymarket in deep winter. Ooooo.

Thanks for the tip, m'lovely, I'll look into it!!

I miss you like the bluebird misses July, but other than that I'm doing pretty okay. I'm thinking big hugs at you, can you feel them?!

OOH. If you'll still be in Paris, I just found some super-cheap flights outta New York. 12/27 to 1/1. Would you be willing to put me up for an amaze-gasmic visit? Though you'll probablement be with la famille d'Alexis fer Xmas, n'est-ce pas?

Gustav Meyrink's story The Golem; Jan Svankmajer's Faust. The Sefer HaZohar (which should be more helpfull than the Sefer Yetzirah on those questions). Anything to do with the concept of Adam Kadmon in Kabbalah (For a competely different interpretation to Loew's ashkenaze interpretation go Isaac de Louriah has an interesting take - in the same spanish vibe if you can find a copy of the Pugio Fidei i believe there is a myth similar to the golem too in there...). As for Dybbuks you are probably better off checking folklore compilations.

I made this illustration a few years ago of a guy using crystal meth to kill a golem. You might want to consider this option too for your story lol (מת being what is written on the forehead of the golem to bring it back to the mineral realm)

(You mean being what's left after erasing the aleph, changing "truth" [emet] to "death" [mat]).

Sounds awesome, can I see?
