i went to my grandmother's house tonight. she's sick, and when we walked in, she was washing dishes in her tiny yellow kitchen, with cold sores all around her nose. we watched wheel of fortune. she took me into her bedroom to weed through her old jewelry, and i felt myself morph back into the 6 year old who delightedly rifled through grandma's ( Read more... )

your grandma is truly amazing. she has definitely been through a lot and then some and it's something to recognize that and learn that to be strong you must be positive. it's sad seeing grandparents get old, i know for sure, but like you said, they will always be there spirit. someday your grandchildren will write this same thing about you. stay strong. stay positive.

Sometimes though, you recognize strength in other people and not in yourself. You are just as strong in your own way and at your age right now. Going through as much as your grandmother has is because she has been around for it all- and her mindset and strength reflects that. Your mindsetand strength reflect what you have gone through up until now. It's all relative. Oliveyou :)
