Our glorious media decides on a platform to take and then runs with it and fuck every other angle because damnit we're the media and we're right. Should he have done it? Probably not? Did he accomplish most of the things he sought to do when he did it? Most likely yes. Figuring out how to most affect our country and to be a story for a long time is not very difficult when everything here is so easy to figure out how to manipulate. This guy was smarter than people give him credit for. Also, does anyone *really* think that in society we have right now people are actually going to say "oh, maybe i should tell my child to be a decent human being instead of doing things to harm others so they can be in the in crowd". That would require accountability, and this country is very much lacking in that department, from the top down.

I agree with you, people should not react to a tragic event like this with hate but instead with sorrow.

I don't think the way to deal with tragedies is with hate because nothing good comes from it. An eye for an eye...the result is only bad...a cartoonish result would be that everyone would be blind.

Some people say that an individual should be take account for all of their actions. I think the factor of the environment that the person is in is very underrated. Even the strongest willed and independent person is affected by their environment.

Interesting.

One of the main reasons people are automated to think that way is because of the wording and presentation of the stories and news. President Bush is also guilty of this, calling people "evil." Granted, not all media outlets are to blame, but the majority is definitely working against him.
