Miata had stepped out, a few auras were missing, and there was a strange erratic presence, not too far, of someone approaching their limit? It seemed like any other time to grab a claymore and head out.

The only problem was, of course, the snow. Galatea wasn't sure how deep it was, only that it was there. And in midst of throwing on a spare cloak and dressed in clothing that wasn't ripped, her ears faintly caught the sound of something... near the door? Her hearing was above average than a human, sure, but truth be told she wasn't paying attention to it enough.

"Port"? Was that it? The half-blooded woman had taken her time to strap on her claymore on her back, not even bothering to wait to hear for Clarice - maybe she needed the sleep - and went out with concern.

The woman was following the sound of someone, not even caring how strange it'd be to see the sight of her black sword handle sticking up from behind her cloak, in all of her blind glory. A twinge of a smile, Galatea was sure she was closing on in on someone at this point ( ... )

A voice? Jack turned to Galatea, an eyebrow raised--he hadn't heard or seen another person here since he'd arrived. Assuming the town was empty was unwise. How many other people had heard the raucous he'd made?

...Ah, well. Desperate times.

"It was indeed, madam," he replied. Though he was still a bit...out of it, that didn't mean he couldn't also be polite to make up for earlier, especially to a lady.

"My apologies; I'm not entirely certain of how I've arrived here, and I'm in a bit of a hurry," Jack explained. "My particular friend, you see, I'm sure he has been taken to Bell Pointe as well, and there was no sign of him apart from a letter addressed to the two of us. Were he to be lost, or to fall ill..." He trailed off.

"Well. I'd do whatever necessary to avoid that."

A newcomer. She listened with a smile, genuinely coming off as casual, fending off concern. After all, warriors were supposed to feel detached, not show general worry for the local populace. But oh, Galatea couldn't help it, living her for almost two months. She listened, sinking into a role of a normal blind woman, instead of the blind warrior.

"Could be here, you never know," Galatea's pace had slowed down, now acting normally blind, feeling around as she did, until she knew she was in close distance. She stopped, tilting her head to the side to listen for sounds... feet movement, the rustling of clothing. All of that.

"I don't know much help I could be, but... ah. It's awfully cold out here, I really do hope you're bundled up."

For some reason, Galatea found it difficult to explain Bell Pointe as a whole; why not humor him, just for a bit?

"I sincerely hope he is," Jack answered with a sigh. Being caught on land was enough, but without the company of Dr. Maturin? Not to mention that he wasn't even sure what continent the town of Bell Pointe was on. Galatea's presence was appreciated--it would be a little easier to bear being entirely lost if he knew he was not completely alone.

He blinked, observing the woman. So she was blind... what was a blind woman doing wandering the town alone? Had he really been that noisy so as to rouse her?

"No, it is quite all right," he replied, frowning. "And I've enough warmth to search for Dr. Maturin on my own. I do hope you're warm enough, as well." That was a bit of a lie, to be honest, but Stephen couldn't have gone very far; Jack reasoned that the two of them would return to the house as soon as possible. When he found him, that is.

"Ah, pardon, I haven't introduced myself yet--Captain Jack Aubrey of his majesty's Royal Navy."
