WHO: Helen Magnus & Hanataro Yamada
WHAT: Hana finds a collapsed woman and brings her to the hospital
WHEN: Day 54
WHERE: Town then hospital
RATING: Very PG.
Helen felt the ground quicker than her eyes allowed her, her mind still catching up. Her illness had taken a lot from her though death was something entirely different. Death... death had taken everything, leaving Helen with almost no feeling... nothing. Lifting her head with a groan Helen blinked, waiting for her vision to clear before moving further. It took several seconds for her vision to begin to clear, her arms moving without conscious thought to work into pushing herself up. She was exhausted, her muscles aching and complaining with the slightest twitch. The whole effort was that - a ridiculous effort to complete the simplest task.
What Helen saw was wondrous. Many thoughts, ideas had passed through her mind before it happened. A town had not been one of them. Helen had thought of death frequently, though the idea of it, even the cause had been more constant than what would happen after. After Ashley had passed the thought of death had not become more welcome, per se, but it was less feared. There were thoughts of peace, being reunited with Ashley, her mother... James. And then, after Adam, death had been a constant on her mind. Time was a limited factor, the days or even mere hours that she had... She had hoped to at least see her father one last time first, to be sure of his safety, to tell him everything that she needed to but...
Helen forced herself to focus, forcing her eyes to settle on one object, her mind to stay on track - though the thickness of the fog made it somewhat impossible. It was a tiring prospect. For death things looked too real. Perhaps it was a state, something designed to mimic what their lives had been, to make them feel at ease with passing. One thing that Helen did not feel, one thing that she knew for certain, was at ease. Everyone mentioned a feeling of peace, even Will's recollection had alluded to something despite his experience being something entirely different. Peace Helen did not feel; she was not reassured. It was too real, too painful - which she did not expect, feeling death after death? - and too tiring.
Unable to hold herself for longer, her mind and body both too taxed, her arms gave way from under her. She fell again, unable to keep herself level... unable to keep herself awake, with one final thought on her mind.
Ashley.
