I realize that this might be a bit of an...inane question at a time like this, but...

Did someone lose a cat recently?

It was making a racket for, ah, about thir--half an hour very late last night. So...I went outside and set something out for it, but it was gone before I could see where it'd gone.

[...Oh, and there's still a saucer of buttermilk by ( Read more... )

Two o'clock in the morning, Thatch. And, yes, it was for half an hour.

Hopefully the damn thing will be quiet now.

[But... if someone... went out to where the buttermilk had been set? They'd find some tuna mixed with egg whites had also been left there.]

I don't know. I've never heard any other cats around here. Are you sure it'll be fine?

Won't be if it wakes me up again.

Yes, I heard it. But there was nothing there when I went to look.

Where could it have gone off to? I'm sure at least one of us would've seen it.

I'm not sure...I think...I think it went into the commercial center.

Oh! It might've!

Do you know if anybody's gone to look for it? I might go myself, actually...

That poor kitty! I ran right out to see it but I didn't see it at all, I thought I scared it off...

I thought the same thing! I-I thought maybe some milk would make it come back--mine really likes buttermilk, she'll come if she even smells a little of it--so I set out a saucer... But there was nothing to see at all.

It was probably just scared away.

I never thought about giving a cat buttermilk. Does it make a little crinkly face at the sourness?

Ah, I suppose so.

Fluffy did at first. But she loves it now. It's the cutest thing.

"Milo why is there milk and food outside the door?"

Curious Kida is curious. And behind you. Sorry about that.

"Oh!"

Milo stops and whirls around-- "H-hi, Kida," he mumbles out, a sheepish grin on his face. "Well, there was a cat meowing at the door late last night, so...I set out something for it."

Flawless logic.

...Wait, food? He hadn't set out any food last night.

"There's food too?"

"Yesss, a bowl of fish and one of cream."

Cue Kida pointing outside like a little child tattling on their sibling.

"Why do you want it to come to the house?"

"...Fish." He raises an eyebrow. "H-hold on, will you, Kida--"

In a moment Milo's at the door and on his knees; sure enough, the tuna and egg white mixture is there beside his own little bowl of milk.

What.

What.

"Wait. Who put this here?" he asks...totally forgetting Kida's other question.

Koromaru here heard one.

Woke me up to tell me all about it. [He ends with just a tinge of annoyance, but it doesn't sound like it bothered him too much.]
