Rewatch S6: The French Mistake (6.15)

Oct 24, 2011 00:18

French Mistake! Woo!!

The trick with this one will be not copying out every single line of dialogue just to tell you how much I love it.

Also, just a note: a VERY easy clothing episode. They don't even take off their coats for very long.

Let's start!

Who wrote this? Nobody says penultimate! )

ee! So much to say! It was interesting how nervous they were about the episode, and I think being buried so deep in fandom we didn't quite appreciate what a risk it was, because in some way the episode was exactly how we view the Show - this weird melange of fictional and reality where we cross from talking about the actor to the characters without blinking.

And I loved that they obv made the episode as much for the crew as they did for us. i am sure there are a dozen more jokes we don't get (And i think the penultimate was bc the director Charles Beeson uses it all the time)

Also, I briefly dated a woman who was a PA on the Xfiles. The little she told me sounded terrible, esp as it was usually the poor PAs who had to deal with co-stars who literally didn't speak once the cameras stopped.

I actually even wondered if you had gun shops in Canada! There certainly rare as here.

And I'll leave the musing on angel gender for another day!

Very true. It's even doubly the same for me, since it was set in Vancouver, but in every single episode, I'm like "Oh, they're in Stanley Park" or "That must be down in Delta."

Yes, they could probably publish a little paper about all the in jokes in A French Mistake. When I talked to Jim Micharls about it, he said that there were some visual jokes that only the crew would get. Like Serge and his laser-pointer...and Bob Singer always drinking coke.

Good recap! 2 things: regarding the weapons and the sudden drop of that storyline, I have a mini theory that Sam and Dean will find the stash and use them on leviathans. Secondly, I hope (like they have with other episodic themes) they'll continue French mistake with snobby actor!Jensen and Jared coming to the spn world. I'd pee my pants, for realz.

Ooo! I hope so! That'd be cool.

Oh man, that'd be hilarious...but I doubt they'd go for it. Whenever Jared and Jensen talk about the French Mistake, they mention that they only agreed to it on the condition that they never play Jared and Jensen...maybe they'll change their minds though!

I didn't realize that Sam's interview was in the panic room. It's perfect on so many levels. Nice catch on banging on the solid 4th wall when they get back. At the end when Balthazar tells Cas not to die on his own sword, it's pretty ironic that Balthazar dies on Cas's sword. The bits with Serge dodging bullets and Lou Bollo getting to do his own stunt death still have me laughing. Sam and Dean's acting is so horrible, I cringe and can't look even though it's funny. Jensen looks like he's on the edge of losing it. He's one strangled expression away from it when Gen and Sam are talking about the otters. It was an awesome ep.

(I couldn't find our ladle for a few days last week and all I could think about was your icon.)

Haha, next time I watch, I'll have to pay more attention to his face during that scene. I don't know how any of them kept a straight face. Especially through Sam and Genevieve's awkward kisses. :P

lol! I love this icon.

Man, I wish Jared and Genevieve were into threesomes...with me.

Hahah it's like we share a brian.

I love this line because I once spent Easter weekend with a very religious family. And by the end of that weekend, if I heard one more thing about Jesus, I was going to punch somebody.

Oh more brain sharing. Apart from, this describes extended periods of time with my Norwegian family. I suppose it doesn't help that we don't have the same TV and don't read/watch the same books/films, but after a while I just want to yell WILL YOU SHUT UP ABOUT JESUS ALREADY!

Oh and I also love the line "You married Fake Ruby!?" just cos of Dean's face. And Dean would totally have seriously considered staying if he saw Danneel.

Haha, I'm glad I'm in such good company with my brain. :P

Jensen is really great at the comedy. He has the facial expressions for it.

I think they both are. Like, that really short part of Meat Swap when jared is playing the boy inside Sam's body. It was just brilliant and I wish they'd done the whole episode that way.

Oh man! Me too! Yeah, I didn't mean to short change Jared there, he's got great comedic ability too. Even some of his stuff with Soulless!Sam (in Clap Hands) was played great for comedy.

There was a question at the Chicago convention about a ladle and Jared in a photograph together. There was a bit of discussion, with Jared saying he couldn't remember that photograph and that he would look for it and if he found it, he would tweet it.

Ha! I'd love to know what was so funny, but I have a feeling that so much has happened between now and then that Jared wouldn't even remember.
