Rewatch S6: Frontierland (6.18)

Oct 26, 2011 15:01

Frontierland! I've probably watched this episode the most out of S6. It's so much fun...plus, Jensen looks REALLY good as a cowboy...

The clothes will be VERY interesting in this...actually, I got so distracted capping the clothes, that I forgot to think critically about the episode from time to time...

Anyway, let's jump in and see how I did!

I'll stay here, hook up with the posse. Because you know me, I'm a posse magnet. I mean, I love posse. )

rewatch s6

Honestly, the plot of this one did zilch for me, and I'm a sucker for a good time travel story (although you do have a good point about Rachel's complaint). I just loved seeing BOYS IN THE OLD WEST and DEAN/JENSEN IN PERIOD COSTUME. *thud* They both need to do a real Western sometime.
It does surprise me, though, that Sioux Falls wouldn't have a Western wear store that carried at *least* 1880s apparel. But I'm from Texas and the writers aren't, so... eh. *handwave*

Well, I'm from Canada, which is slightly closer to Sioux Falls than Texas is...and I don't think we know anything about Western wear. I mean, we have it...but I'm not sure if anyone knows what's authentic to what year. And mostly it's moccasins. We really like moccasins.

I guess it's less a question of geography than of culture... but I did a little digging, and surprisingly, it doesn't look like Sioux Falls *does* have a store that offers brands like Frontier Classics or Scully RangeWear. Guess reenactors up that way mostly make their own costumes.
Then again, Dean was probably going mostly for the Man With No Name look and just grabbed whatever mostly fit--and even if he *had* gotten authentic reproduction clothes, there's still the problem of them being too clean for having ridden/walked whatever distance from the town closest to Sunrise.

Actually, I read somewhere that that was indeed the look that they were going for - an attempt at Man With No Name.

I think Jensen said at one convention that the first hat was actually an "Australian" style cowboy hat, if that's true, then that's the biggest mistake in Dean's costume in my eyes.

But yeah, not much they can do about the cleanliness either way. ;)

Welcome to what I would sound like if I tried to watch Buffy or Vampire Diaries. :P
