The fight scene with Crissy, followed by Dean saying she saved him, bugs the heck out of me! Dean wouldn't have needed saving if not for her dumb stunt!!!
Is there a way to edit my dvd with your solution? And the time-skip when Crissy says she's out of hunting? Because I was taken aback by that too--just how long did it take for them to walk from Lee's bed to the parking lot? Long enough for Lee and Crissy to have a heart-to-heart about hunting, apparently...
Show does so many challenging things right that stupid goofs are doubly annoying because they know better!
I wish there was a way for me to edit DVDs with my version! :P
I re-edited a different show so that if I ever decided to rewatch it, it wouldn't take as long... but that was different, because I was cutting unnecessary scenes completely.

yeh, there were some odd moments, but overall it was a good episode with the usual theme of "can you get out of the life?" Of course Sam feels for himself that answer is no; so I still am wondering about his comments in season 8.
I think Lee is a selfish bastard like John for not leaving the life to protect his daughter. The girl is 14, hang it up and let her have four stable years of high school. Hunting will always be there later. Well, maybe that's what Sam learns .
I'm wondering about S8 too! But I'm thinking we're going to have to wait until they tell us what happened with Sam before we call foul on the OOCness.
I think, like a lot of people, Lee thought he was doing the right thing when he started hunting - it's the old dilemma about whether you're going to keep your loved ones's safe better in an offensive position or a defensive one. You see the US argue it a lot when they decide to go to war "we'll have the war over there so that it doesn't come here" - well, that's all well and good, but they're still sending thousands of their loved ones to get killed in a war that very well may have never come to their shores at all.
Frank would be a great counter-point (or additional point) to Sam's storyline, if they had written this season a touch better. A large part of this season is about mental-illness and being functionally, or not functionally, "crazy." But I think that point gets lost somewhere somehow. Maybe because we just don't see Sam struggling. Is Frank supposed to be a source of hope for Sam or a source of worry? Are we supposed to think that Sam has a future as a Hunter because Frank can do it? I think this would have been a really interesting point to explore, but yet they don't really do it. They bring him in, and they MENTION the crazy, but they've dropped the other thread that they're supposed to be tying this one to.This would have been great, but the show was entrenched in new characters interact with Dean not Sam. So Frank talking to Sam about being dealing with mental illness and even possibly medication was not likely to happen. I was also really miffed that after Sam saved Lee's life by offering his own and Crissy doesn't even think
( ... )

Very true!
All this makes season 8's "I've dumped hunting forever" more odd. I hope they will explain this whole change in reaction to stress. Until now, Sam deals with stress by hunting and trying to save people and now he suddenly doesn't care? It bugs me right now.
Yes, I'm interested to see Sam's backstory in S8 too, because it does seem a little odd. Right now, the only thing I can figure is that it somehow made a difference that EVERYONE was gone - that maybe part of Sam snapped a little? I just don't know...I think there's definitely more to the story though, because Sam is very oddly passive about everything - whereas usually when he picks an opinion, he's quite passionate about it.
Can I say that I hated Crissy and that I hated this episode??
Bobby: "You look horrific, when was the last time you really slept a night?... I'll take first shift, you're no use if you can't even keep your eyes open" Am I the only one that noticed that you put 'Bobby' instead of 'Frank'? Maybe it was wishful thinking?
'The Benders' Now that was a damn good episode. It is funny how Sam always seems to get caught, on his way to rescuing people. LOL
Don't forget that John had his journal, so maybe Dean didn't want to piss off his Dad by putting in info that contradicted what John thought at the time (even though it was useful). Then when Dean got the journal, he just forgot to 'update' it.
I like your scenerio to the fight scene. If the child had just stayed in the car and let the adults handle the problem, it would have gone as planned.
H A T E this episode, moving on to a good episode.

Again, I totally called that. I was sitting here typing it up thinking "Nancy doesn't like Crissy, I bet $100" :P

Oh man...I'll go change it. After two episodes of only writing dialogue between Sam, Dean, and Bobby, it was so hard to get out of the habit of typing his name. I'm just always glad when I catch all the Dams and Seans. :P

True enough. Alright, I'll forgive Dean THIS time.
