Um, are people in the States just like...really anti-social and scared of strangers?

Yes, we are. We're trained from preschool that strangers want to hurt us or worse. And heaven forbid you're female -- that adds an extra level of hurt. Females learn that strangers won't just steal or murder us -- they'll rape us, too.

in the States, we seem cynical because we just don't know who to trust. We never, ever feel safe.

I have to say I have read all your recaps and they are quite entertaining and insightful on eps. I have to ask I have reasons that I like Repo Man in fact was wondering did I miss it somewhere and going to be intresting read tomorrow. But what are reasons you like it. For me its fact that dean was captured by seriel killer. But this is what I don't understand did he really need to be captured? I mean Jeffrey just needed his blood. He could have drugged Dean about anywhere if he wanted to and taken enough blood. Tnoughts.

I like Repo Man because it finally brings back the storyline of Sam's sanity. :P

I also like it because I think the dude who played Jeremy? did a great job.

I'll let you know my thoughts on whether Dean had to be kidnapped once I watch the episode...but you might have a point. This is Supernatural though, where our heroes are often kidnapped when it would be easier to kill them immediately...it's just one of those suspension of disbelief things that a lot of shows have when it comes to their heroes.

I know this was a popular episode because it was humorous...but I kept thinking, just like with 'Time for a Wedding,' that Sam should have been coming apart at the seams...also, it you just watch his fight with the clowns, that was a brutal beating he took and he should have had some after-effect for Dean to be concerned about, you know? Sigh.

It's true, and it's the kind of thing that I would have happily overlooked if there were more Sam!whump in the season - which is why I didn't really mention it here. But yeah, I would have loved it if the attack had a more visible effect on his sanity.

I hate to repeat myself, but are these still problems? LOL

Sigh. :P

Damn, you would make a wonderful mother. LOL

Whenever I babysit, I have the parents sign a disclaimer to make sure that they understand who they are leaving their children with. ;)

Maybe Dean is not the only one with abandonment issues. Maybe that is why Sam fears clowns, he subconsciously equates clowns with Dean leaving him behind or alone?

I think at that age, Sam might have already had the fear of clowns. But I do agree that Sam has abandonment issues. More specifically, I think Sam has rejection issues... that it's not so much about being indifferently discarded, as it is about being hatefully rejected.

I truly believe that whenever Dean calls him 'Sammy', Sam feels like he is getting a huge hug from his big brother.

I think so too. :)

I think that Sam stole the slinky for Dean as a thank you for all that Dean has given up for Sam.Agreed. I also just remembered how much my own big brother loved slinkys...and I think my younger sister actually bought him ( ... )

Please, tell me that you are kidding about the disclaimer. LOL

John did some major damage to his sons.
Somebody should write a fanfic, with Mary coming back from Heaven during season one and just bitchslapping the taste out of John's mouth for what he did to their sons.

Well, it's verbal - but no, I am not kidding. "Before you leave - I need you to acknowledge that you DO know who you are leaving your children with and that you understand I cannot be held responsible for this parenting decision of yours." They usually laugh and say, "yes, yes, we know," and then shake their heads like I'm being ridiculous... but I'm serious.

I have two friends who keep talking about eventually hiring me as their nanny, I kept trying to warn them off, until my friend actually said one day, "Yes, we know you will screw up our children, but at least we'll know WHY they are screwed up. If we leave them a stranger, it would be a mystery." :P

I'm sure such fanfic has been written! :P

I love your reviews! You hit almost all the same things that I noticed too.

I thought that Cliff looked really familiar too. So much that I went to IMDB and looked up the episode. At the time, the actor wasn't listed so I couldn't see what else he was in.

Poor Sam. As soon as a clown appears, not only does he have to deal with his fears, but he has to deal with Dean teasing him. Clowns though. They are scary! Maybe someone let him watch Poltergeist when he was too young? I went on a haunted hayride last weekend, and there was a guy tooling around on a four-wheeler with a clown mask on. He was scarier than the reapers and scarecrows jumping out from between the cornstalks!

This was such a fun episode.

Oh, is he not on IMDB? That's too bad. :(

I bet it WAS something like Sam watching Poltergeist when he was too young. I watched this movie once when I was really little where a whole bunch of butterflies killed a guy (weird I know), and I was afraid of butterflies after that for a while. :P

I also saw ET when I was too young for it. So, I'm suitably afraid of aliens, though that doesn't affect my day to day life at all. But to this day, I bare a grudge against Steven Spielburg and usually refuse to watch any movie that has to do with aliens.
