There would likely be more consistency in the details if there was only one or two writers...and if the entire season was written at once so the powers that be could look for inconsistencies then...Bobby's vengeful descent is uneven, but I can mostly live with it, I just would have preferred he not come back as a ghost at all, it really undermined the poignancy of his original death :(
I think you still iron out inconsistencies without writing everything at once if you have a firm outline going in...and this season just feels like it doesn't.
But yes, I think Bobby coming back undermined the poignancy of his death.
I think it's kind of a "thing" in science fiction/fantasy that creativity is uniquely a human trait.
Ah, yes, that makes sense.
It may have just been that Sera had too many threads going, and she couldn't wrap them all up in the end.
I think that might be Sera's achilles-heel right there. She had a similar problem in S6... which is kind of funny, because I think Kripke may have had the opposite problem, where he always had too few threads.
I'm not sure we're seeing real Bobby anyway...becoming a ghost takes away something indefinable from the human...maybe the same thing that allows creativity? Now THAT would have been something to follow up on!Exactly! I would have been much happier this season, I think, if the writers had focused on continuing their exploration of the human soul. Then Bobby's ghost-status would have been written clearer with a marked intent or something... I just kind of think he was all over the map, and yes, we can rationalize it as fans, but it was never explained well enough in the show. But that's just my

I loved this episode. Finally there was action, and characters being smart and the whole bit of trickery. I just loved the interaction with Charlie who neither wad a love interest nor a mother figure.
I am of the camp where Dean carries at least latent bisexual desires. It's just written in his character so much.

Yes, exactly.
I loved this episode because FINALLY they were working on the main story-arc and making progress against the leviathans, instead of just doing other things while the leviathans ran amok without any hindrances.
And yes, it seems they finally figured out how to have women on this show that weren't love-interests. (I don't see Sheriff Jody as a mother-figure, even though they tried to write her that way.) I don't even think they necessarily had to make Charlie a lesbian either, but I guess they are trying to remove all doubt. :P
I agree with you about the ghost!Bobby storyline...
As for the red clay turning into grey rock--I don't really know. When clay hardens or is fired it does change color. But I would think red would be a brown color, but there are probably many types...
I guess the redclay could have been weird special clay that was red when wet and grey when dry...I mean, it IS around a magic tablet...and I guess if the CLAY is what I find unbelievable about this show, then I have problems. :P
