Rewatch S1 DVDs: The Pilot

Speak of the devil! UPS showed up with my DVDs this morning, so this afternoon I was able to dive right in and rewatch the pilot. Now, I must admit, I've seen parts of the pilot several times now, because I watched a few scenes on Youtube while I was writing my last story. The cool thing about the DVD though is that they have deleted scenes and ( Read more... )

I think their accents are much more noticeable in early episodes, especially Jared's. The way he says nightmares, especially, but anything like Right or Night or Might. Hehehe ( ... )

I agree completely with you on the "we were raised like warriors" speech. Although I want the *information* from the longer version, I would much rather it be given to me through flashbacks, rather than horrible exposition conversations ( ... )

Oh yeah, I forgot that he showed up on Halloween. I remember the party now. I am pretty sure Jess and Mary's deaths were same date/time because someone mentions it later. I can't remember who says it, or when. I thought it was Dean, but it could have been one of the demons ( ... )

Well, Dean kicked in the door, so I can only assume that he got to the porch and was about to knock when he heard Sam shout from inside.

Yeah, I agree with you about Dean's reaction to the 13 hour line, he was definitely a kicked puppy at the reminder...but I still think it's a good difference of characters/lives - where Sam knows the exact number of hours, and Dean probably just registers it as "soon". So, Sam's line had a duel purpose, both in pointing out the differences between the Winchester-Life and Normal-Life, and also pointing out to Dean that he is serious about making it back to the interview, that nothing has changed about what kind of life he wants to live.

Though, Sam does say that maybe he can meet up with Dean later, which I think somewhat points to the idea that Sam might have considered hunting on the side, if his Dad hadn't just told him to "stay gone." - but that's a whole other debate.

I'm only just getting into Supernatural, but man, like with Sherlock, I really like your rewatches. The random things you point out that struck you while watching are just so interesting. So thank you for doing them!

Before I started watching Season 1, I only knew excerpts from the later seasons - you're right, they seem ridiculously young here. With Sam it's mostly the lack of muscle mass, with Dean the voice.

"WHEN IT GETS DARK, THE WINCHESTERS GET TO WORK!"

Glad you like the rewatches! You can watch as they slowly get longer and longer and longer...until they are ridiculous....much like the size of Sam!

They really are babies in these first seasons.
