Well, now you can comment on two posts when you get home, because I'm about to post another!

Nice icon! I must admit, I am jealous of your paid account.

Today I watched Home and Asylum, both awesome explorations of the boys' father-issues...or rather, Sam's father issues and Dean's heartbreaking sadness.
You're awesome! Once again, you've really nailed what those episodes are about.

Anyway, basically what I'm saying is that the honeymoon period for Sam and Dean is officially over.
Yes. Up till now, it mostly felt like this wonderfully long holiday, and now they're sort of back to where they were when Dean came to collect Sam from Stanford. They can't drive away from their issues forever.

My heart breaks at the end of "Asylum" when poor Dean realises that once Sam's no longer under Ellicot's influence, he no longer wants to shoot him, but he still thinks all those awful things he said. I think that comes as a huge shock to Dean, even if we go with your theory that he's said similar things before when he was arguing with John. Maybe Dean thought that after those six months they'd spent together, alone, it would all be better between them?

Perhaps, he did think that... that all that old baggage would somehow be water under the bridge by now, that it'd somehow go away. Sadly, emotional baggage doesn't work like that. :P
