Rewatch S1: Ep 11 & 12

Dec 16, 2008 15:32

So, last night I watched Scarecrow and Faith, went to bed at 5am, woke up at 11am, and now have an irregular heartbeat because that's what happens when I don't get enough sleep.

I picked my Jensen icon, because the man does a fine job.

I don't think I have any general thoughts on these episodes. Thinking about Faith always gets Hallelujah by Leonard ( Read more... )

Have to tell you I'm enjoying your commentaries on these eps very much. We think alike.

I'm glad you are enjoying them! I'll probably have another one shortly. With the work slowdown, I don't have much else to do other than watch Supernatural ;)

Your comments are superb as always. And you really made me grin at your confession that you don't really like horror and scary stuff - me too. And yet there's something about this show that makes you ignore all of that. That something being our two lovely boys and their incredibly complicated relationship, of course.

Such wonderful insights in "Scarecrow". I really like how Dean can't believe right up to the last moment that Sam will really leave and how he drives away because he doesn't really want to see Sam being the first to turn away.

Dean does have abandonment issues, he probably figured it was only a matter of time, especially after Asylum.
That's probably it. He was scared and so he forced the issue he was so scared of. Poor darling.

The phone conversation.... *sobs*

I love how Sam comes back for Dean in the end. It's the first time that he's with Dean on his own terms and not because Dean has sort of kidnapped him. That seems a good thing.

And the ending: More greatness from Jensen: How Dean is all sarcastic with Sam ( ... )

I'm glad I'm not the only one who fell in love with a horror-themed show event though they don't like horror!! :P

Scarecrow really is an amazing episode. And yes, Sam coming back for Dean really does change things a little - because it's Sam's CHOICE...which is really the first choice he's made without a lot of outside pressure. "We've got work to do" in the pilot was said while he was in tears and probably full of anger that Jess was dead, so I don't really count it because of being emotionally compromised.

It suddenly occurred to me - if you just got into Supernatural recently: Have you watched the later seasons? Because these rewatches are horribly spoilery, they assume you've seen all the other episodes up to the same point I had when I wrote them. In these early seasons, that would be S4.

Thanks for the spoiler warning, but it's not necessary because I'm already pretty spoilt. :)
I got into Supernatural through reading stardust_made's fantastic SPN/Sherlock crossover "Of Ghosts and Men", which sums up everything that's happened up to the Season 8 finale, so I'm already familiar with the big storylines and don't mind reading allusions that go beyond what's actually shown in the first season.
Also, I'm currently watching Season 9 as it airs and thinking it's all just awesome! Have you posted anything on the current episodes?
(The good thing is of course that once S9 is over, it doesn't matter to me when the new season airs, because I'll have plenty of catching up to do with the old ones until it does. In comparison to Sherlock where each series is exceptionally short, it does seem like an endless load of material to be explored. *g*)

Oh good! I hope you have fun catching up!! There definitely is LOADS of material to be explored... because there's also episode commentaries, and gag reels, and conventional antics, if you like those sorts of things.

If you want stuff that I've written about S9, then click the "quick reaction" tag on my sidebar. I write up a "review" after I watch the episode every week. They aren't NEARLY as thought out as the rewatches, because usually I'm typing them up an hour or two after only seeing the episode once, while drinking. So, yeah... hence why I do the rewatches - so that I can actually have intelligent/coherent thoughts on an episode.
