Lols I love this “ My friend pointed out that there are much more enjoyable ways to have Sam kill you, and that's just to sleep with him and let luck do the rest. The real tragedy is Rowena missing out on that step.”
Also yes, Sam in the blue plaid and dean in the Henley. yummy sad boys.
Wish they had just started the season with this episode...
I cried. And I haven't cried over SPN for a long time. And Rowena isn't even one of the characters I care about a lot!
They should have given Dean something to do while he was hanging out at the giant hole--Rowena made a big deal about his job being dangerous, but nothing happened :/ Maybe, you know, when the spell went sideways some of the ghosties could have attacked him?
Re: Jack's body--since he was at least as powerful as Chuck when he went to the Empty, I assume he can just materialize himself another body?
I have a secret hope that Rowena's spell doesn't work like she thought and she ends up as Queen of Hell and that's part of the plot for the Supernatural movie coming out in 2021 :D
Final note--Dean's facial expression when Cas actually walked out--Jensen hit it out of the park showing just a hint of surprise and regret that Cas would actually be done after the verbal beatdown Dean just laid on him.
And that's a good point about Jack. He's also got Billie and the Empty there with him - so, you know, he wouldn't be the first. After all, they burned Cas, didn't they, and he came back from the Empty.
It would be RAD if Rowena became the Queen of hell. Whether they do it or not, that may become my headcanon.
I also agree about Jensen hitting it out of the park with his acting in that final scene - I mean, not that I'm surprised or anything, I have been watching the man through 15 years of material.
So while everyone is being mean to Dean i would point out that it is less than a week since Mary died! I think its ok for him to be lashing out, esp in the wake of Rowena's death. Plus you can see on his face that he's aware he's hurting Cas, and doesn't really like it. His "where are you going?" shows that, i think he is so wrapped up in his own grief that he has little idea how Cas is feeling EVEN THOUGH CAS TELLS HIM! I like the contrast in Sam, that he just feel so weighed down by sadness and grief through the whole episode. I appreciate that we have had his complex relationship with Rowena build over so many seasons.
My biggest question is - how did Cas get out of Hell? He just appears next to Dean! We know he cant fly/teleport...so whats the deal?!
Oh! Didn't mean to come across as Mean to Dean - I was just joking around. I totally get why he's mad and why he's lashing out the way he is (I mean, it's DEAN) and I agree that Jensen was awesome in that last scene in showing just how much Cas' reaction took him off guard, since Dean was (rightly) too consumed by his own grief and anger (not necessarily JUST at Cas, but also at Chuck, etc.)
As for Cas getting out of hell. My friend and I like to say "I survived somehow!" for moments like that. My guess is that just like the fall into hell doesn't kill him, there's some sort of up-"drop" too. Like one of those pneumatic tubes in Futurama only invisible.
Hey I was wondering if you could help identify the 3 flannels in Sam's bedroom at the end if the episode. There's two on the wall and a third on the table next to Dean and going through some your masterpost of Sam's clothes I have some tentative guesses (I think the S13 Red Plaid and/or Red Hunting Plaid) for one but I don't really trust my eyes.
Also thank you for making that clothing masterpost. That is so much work.
I don't really recognize either of them, to be honest. Closest I could find to the one on the left is Sam's S13 Red Plaid (https://hells-half-acre.livejournal.com/559756.html), same as your guess - but even that doesn't look like an exact match to me, as the red bands seem wider on the S13 Red Plaid than on the shirt in this cap.
But after looking through my thumbnails, I couldn't find a perfect match for either, especially the one on the right and that includes looking through Dean's shirts too. So, they may be new ones.
