This episode was awesome!!! (Why can't they all be like this???)
-Amazing fight scene at the start! Did you see this clip of Jensen rehearsing for it? https://www.instagram.com/p/B4lJa8Jgoet/ )Jensen with rolled up sleeves, Benny (from recent interview: In it, Ackles directed himself in hand-to-hand combat and stunts, as well as a couple of key emotional moments, including bringing back “a character who’s one of my favorite characters of all time,” Ackles says. “It wasn’t even on the page. I said, ‘Can we make this character this person?’ And they were like, ‘If you can get this person - I believe they’re working right now.’ I made the call. He was literally working one day, had the next day off, so he flew in, did one scene, flew out and was working on his other project the next day.”), Scary Samifer! (Had to be Samifer, it was exactly like back in season 5 after Sam said yes)--Hints of horror to come

a terrifying melgomaniac--what he did to Becky--who had a perfect character arc from her last appearance--was appalling after she helped him!!! -The ambivalence over killing the monster, they haven't given us that in a long time, and it was classic SPN (think Madison, the rugaru, even werewolf Garth) and Jensen's music during that scene! -The brothers being honest with each other in the end car scene even though it hurt to see Sam so broken...
Man, this episode made me SO HAPPY!
And very scared for how the use of Chuck seems so meta for how Andrew Dabb is writing the end of the show...
I'm not worried about Chuck's ending, because he's the villain to thwart, and the boys always thwart the villain - now, mind you, they never thwart them 100%... so, while I'm confident that we're not getting Chuck's ending, I'm also sure that we're not getting Becky's ending either (assuming that Becky's ending would be one involving talking and laundry.)
But yeah, I agree with you - this was a VERY SOLID EPISODE and really in keeping with classic SPN. Everyone did a really fantastic job.
I don't even have anything to add! Haha - you summed up everything I liked about it. :)
I was all in on this one. Best episode of the season by far. Probably my favorite episode since "Lebanon." (Or the episode where Sam punches Dean and then hugs him...can't remember if that one came before or after "Lebanon.") Dean's full beard and scarf go solidly in the Positives column for me. Is Sam going full vegetarian now?? We are really embracing the fanfiction here, but I'm fine with it

Someone suggested it referred to the idea of the 'atomic family' that became the 'norm' after WW2--mom, dad, kids. And that this atomic family were atomic monsters.

And what a rehearsal clip. His fight choreography borders on balletic, in the best way. :)
