Quick Reaction: 15x05 Proverbs 17:3

Nov 14, 2019 22:59

Hello!

You all know the rules by now. I don't think I have any updates for you.... I'm aware that I haven't started rewatches yet. I will get to them, promise. The DVD has been sitting next to my computer for a month now. Taunting me.

Anyway, tonight's episode was good and interesting - let's get to it!

My iPod mostly played instrumentals on the way home... so no random song lyrics for you... )

I found this episode weird.

Okay, I am loving Sam's 'dreams'--very viscerally terrifying, amazingly acted. Although it feels a little like the writers found the section of fanfic with all the Dark!Sam and Dark!Dean stories and are showing us all the possible horrible endings in order to prepare us for the ending they're going to give us where again, one dies but in a noble cause so we think that's better than what could have happened ( ... )

Yeah, those are good questions. I kind of thought back to S2, when the YED was influencing the Special Kids through their dreams - so, they're given circumstances were their own, but what they were "inspired" to do came from the YED. In that respect, it's hard to pin point the person behind their actions, because while it seems like a personal choice how you act on your dreams, you're usually under the impression that your dreams are your own. So, I sort of see it happening the same way, where God doesn't have influence over the conscious, but he does over the subconscious ( ... )

Oh! I never thought about the fact that Chuck HAS resurrected angels that were presumably in the empty!

I still wonder about the power disrepancy though, that he can't leave our world and yet can best the Empty...

Well, we don't know if he's "besting" the Entity, or if the Entity was just lying and/or stretching the truth when he said that God had no control there. It could be that God CAN call things from the empty, but can't influence the Entity itself with how it runs things ( ... )

Now that we know how manipulative Chuck is, I'm more skeptical about the whole "the world will end if I die" declaration. I can see Chuck creating that situation in order to make a better "story" and give more consequence to saving him. Plus it may have had more to do with AMARA destroying everything rather than Chuck's death. So, I'm not that worried that the world will end if Chuck dies.

The other option is to exile him to a different world without any hope of returning to or being able to manipulate ours. Thoughts go to Squirrel World, or Kaia's prehistoric world, because at least we already know about those and there aren't a lot of humans for Chuck to mess with, which would make Sam and Dean happy.

I did that thing I do where I think I replied to a comment but actually didn't!

VERY GOOD POINT! About how Chuck may have faked the whole "the world ends with me" thing in S11 - INTERESTING!

I'd definitely be happy with an ending where God ended up stranded in Squirrel World.

Okay, for the record, Jensen DOES look exactly the same!! I know they were lampshading me, but I was still shouting at my screen, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME, HE LOOKS THE SAAAAAAAME." The only thing that has changed is more eye crinkles. <3 ( ... )

Haha, as I said, I've definitely seen the "Jensen looks exactly the same" conversation in fandom before - so I love that they included it in the show and played it up for laughs ( ... )

I actually love that Dean was SO sexually uninterested in her that he didn't even feel the need to address it. My headcanon is that Lilith fell for "playboy!Dean" belief and actually completely misjudged his character, and thought that she wouldn't HAVE to try - that'd he'd come on to her or something just by her being there and vulnerable, meanwhile Dean's actually a respectful dude who also hasn't really hit on any women since... SEASONS ago? I actually can't remember.

I actually love that too! And you’re right, it has to be...two or three seasons? There were a couple of waitresses in season 12...Regarding Dean, and that episode with Molech, the waitress he snagged with the horrible “hot coffee” line. But after that...none that I can remember? Has becoming a parent diminished his sex drive? And, well, being angel-possessed can also make that tough. :/
