Quick Reaction: 15x07 Last Call

Hello!

Before anyone asks - yes, I know I haven't started S14 rewatches yet, even though I promised that I'd start them in November (after saying I'd start them in October.) I had a project due on November 30th that I ended up pulling a few all-nighters for, and then I wanted some time off. So, my aim is this weekend - let's all cross our fingers.

Under the cut! :) )

season 15, quick reaction

Great episode - great recap! Also yes to - "and you can pry Atheist-Jewish Dean Winchester out of my cold dead hands" ME TOO.

The only thing that rankled a bit with me was all the references to Texas' shitty gun laws. I just dont know if that plays as cheap jokes in 2019.

Thanks!

And yeah, I didn't make any comments on the gun laws, because at this point I just... don't know where the lines are there, and that's better suited to commentary from Americans.

so i commented on twitter about my reaction to the gun jokes. The responses from non-Usians were from people who felt similar, the response from USians was sort of a bemusement as to what i was talking about with people trying to explain what the lines meant!

I've got to admit, a lot of demon Dean's bad singing, can be blamed on a demon's desire to torture people ;-)

True! We haven't really heard DEAN sing since... what? Season 7? Plenty of time for him to learn how to carry a tune. ;)

I've seen several people think Sergei's Russian line to Misha was about Misha, but I immediately went to the US political situation and took it as a dig at the body sitting in the White House...

I was satisfied how they brought Lee in as an 'old friend' whom we've never heard of--good writing! And Dean telling about the ghost sickness was a great continuity tie-in...it seemed like Dean was trying to keep the stories tight, like he wasn't telling about all the apocalypses (apocali?) he's survived...

And it really worked for me to re-energize Dean in going back to fighting impossible odds because that's what he does instead of lying around the bunker in a depression ( ... )

I've sort of made in an unofficial rule not to touch US politics with a ten-foot pole... so, I'll let Americans do the interpreting of that line, I suppose ( ... )

Huh. I thought the Russian reference was to The Empty's terrible russian accent when he was using Castiel's face.

Although I don't know how Sergei would know that.

Great recap, as always!

I admit, I've watched way too much Angel, because I'm thinking Lee could simply have decided to help the American Red Cross in blood drives then pinched the blood they throw away. I mean on the donation form there is a big "Don't use this blood for transfusion" checkbox so that people who are in company blood drives don't have to admit to having various conditions that make them unable to donate, and they can save the Red Cross the effort of testing. I mean there ARE other ways of providing blood to blood drinking monster here.

I actually did enjoy the story, just Lee didn't have to turn into a human monster.
