And I forgot to say on my last rewatch post that I LOVE the use of Wayward Son at the beginning...it's so excellent, there aren't words.

I had a lovely visit with my brother and tomorrow I'm taking off for the New Years weekend. I also posted my Bobby POV fic, which means I have posted one fic from each main characters' POV

We absolutely learn about Roanoke in school. Since there isn't much to know, it flits by fast, relative to the history of other early settlements, but there's no question that our boys would have encountered the story as school kids, as opposed to Daddy's Little Lore-Leechers.

I so agree with your concern about the tendency to dumb Dean down. That annoys me.

Your recaps are wonderful. I don't comment on all of them, but I read and enjoy them all :-)

Cool, thanks for the info. I realize that I'm a bit silly for thinking that you wouldn't learn about Roanoke. I based it on my knowledge of the amount of early Canadian history they teach in public schools up here...the only problem is that I don't know that either, because I went to a private school with a completely different curriculum until High School.

I'm glad you enjoy the recaps! I enjoy writing them.

I think we get so much emphasis on early-early American history because while we want to embrace our heritage and all that, the what comes after the early stuff is even more appalling.
