Day Shift Information

Jan 03, 2010 12:39

Night is one entire shift, lasting 3 weeks. During the day, the following shifts typically occur:

1. Morning: This is the shower shift. Every morning prisoners receive a shower in a large community shower. As all prisoners were tried as adults, there is no separation based on age or gender. This shift lasts 2 days.

2. Breakfast: All prisoners are escorted to the cafeteria. This shift lasts 3 days.

3. Duty Shift: Prisoners will be assigned a duty by the warden; duties will be assigned to each of the four groups. This shift lasts 4 days.

4. Open Shift: All prisoners have access to the exercise field and the chapel's main wing. Some prisoners will have special privileges during this time, able to go places they normally cannot. Some prisoners may also be required to attend counseling sessions or do mandatory labor in the machine shop or elsewhere, depending on their previous activities. This shift lasts 4 days.

5. Dinner: Same as Breakfast. Lasts 3 days.

During special events, the mods may choose to change this typical order. If such is the case it will be posted in the ooc community.

Regular Duty

Maintenance - Bathrooms; prisoners are moved through all the bathrooms in the main prison and made to sanitize and scrub them.

Maintenance - Roofs; prisoners see to the maintenance of the roofs of the buildings detached from the main prison, including tarring them. Buildings excluded from this are the garage and guard barracks.

Maintenance - Painting; prisoners freshen the paint for the inside of the prison or any of the buildings outside of the prison, excepting the infirmary, guard barracks, and garage.

Maintenance - Grounds; prisoners are given implements suitable for caring for the lawns and gardens. May include such tasks as digging for a sprinkler system as well, or repaving the drive.

Laundry - Prisoners are sent to the laundry and do the day's laundry for the entire prison, including washing, drying, and folding.

Machine and Carpentry shop - Prisoners are sent to the shop to make license plates, furniture, or other items that they are not allowed to keep.

Reward Duty

Library - Prisoners are allowed a free period in the library, including the option of watching a movie in the theater.

Kitchen helper - Prisoners are sent to the kitchen to help. The head cook is very nice and will give his charges a treat at the end of the shift if they are well behaved.

Reward Shop - Prisoners are sent to the shop and allowed to work on their own personal projects such as furniture or game boards. (Prisoners can get away with making their own weapons if they bribe the guards and aren't obvious about it.)

Punishment Duty

Maintenance - Walls; the prisoners assigned this as punishment are forced to take the "crow cages" containing dead prisoners down, clean them, and take the corpses to the crematorium.

Maintenance - Solitary Pits; the prisoners are assigned to descend into all of the unoccupied solitary pits and clean out the filth that has collected in them.
