[ Grocery store - Late morning ]

[Integra, dressed warmly and very classy for the cold, is on a mission. Her hand basket is filled with apples, lemons, a bottle of sherry and other suspiciously nummy-looking things. Presently she's very intently studying a rack of spices, contemplative.]

[She leans heavily on her cane, her hair shot through with more white than normal as her fur fills out to prepare for a cold winter. Despite being nearly lame in one leg, she seems to manage well enough with her shopping, an oddly large notebook resting atop the groceries in her basket. Instead of a list of items, it seems to be more like a record of one-sided conversations in a variety of handwritings.

When she spots Integra, her ears flick forward, a spasm making her tail twitch oddly. When she speaks, it's with an oddly loud tone of someone who obviously cannot hear what they're saying.]

Making mulled cider for the holidays?

[If Integra had fluffy ears like Mika, they'd be perking up inquisitively right now. She studies the young woman, noting her inhuman features and how she carries herself in spite of her injuries.

About to respond aloud, she shifts her hand basket to her arm and takes up the girl's notebook and a pen of her own, writing in neat, cleanly scripted letters.]

Yes. How did you know?

[The girl huffs in mild amusement when she reads Sir Hellsing's handwriting, a wry smile tugging at her lips and revealing a glint of sharp teeth. She reaches up to lightly tap the side of her nose.]

I can smell the spices you've got in your basket. 'm not the best cook, but I know the makings for cider when I smell them.

[She smiles lightly, writing again. It's interesting- Integra hasn't seen a canine/human hybrid for some time. Even werewolves are rare, elusive beings back home.]

Ah, of course. Family tradition?

[Guess who just got hit by a rogue snowball?

After a few minutes of confusion, however, he looks quite pleased.]

[If she were to say she hadn't meant to thwap the Hitler Youth with a snowball, she would have been lying. A few more go sailing past at her targets across the way.]

Engaging in a bit of combat, are we?

[Every opportunity to troll? Is a good one.]

That would seem to be the case.

[wow suspiciously delicious things seem to attract Charles no matter where he is. granted he wasn't too far from the spice aisle, his small shopping basket already filled with berry preserves and the makings for pastries.]

It seems everyone is catching the holiday spirit. [like it's a disease no okay, snarky comments aside he seems to be in a good mood.]

I'm glad for it. It's good to alleviate tension, no matter how brief.

[A nod at his basket.]

What are you making, if you don't mind my asking?

That much is certainly true. [he raises his basket a bit, its contents sliding from the front to the back.]

Just a few jam tarts and perhaps some palmiers if I find the time. And you?

Wassail. Something hot and strong against the cold.

[ Warren is neither- he's a passerby who got pegged in the back of the head with a snowball. He whirls around, annoyed. ]

Do you mind?

[ He glares a bit... and then retaliates with a snowball. It's stupid and childish, but it's a better way to deal with being annoyed than just fuming. ]

[Usually Mart is used to a menorah and latkes, but he can get used to this.]

Sweet! Love what you did with the place even if this ain't exactly my typical holiday of choice.

Eh, what's waail?

Thank you. [She tried to find you a menorah, not!son. Mayfield in and of itself seems to favor the Protestant tradition, which she can't precisely say she doesn't approve of, but the American bent to it is irritating.]

Wassail. Essentially it's mulled cider, with spices and ale and a little sherry. You're old enough to enjoy it, I think.

Has Hanukkah already started?

No prob. This place could put any of the downtown celebrations to shame.

Sweet, I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

Not yet, but I think it comes up in like, a couple of weeks. Just you wait, I'll make my family's latke recipe.

[Aw, Mart. She won't say so aloud, but that is very sweet. Sir Hellsing hands him the steaming mug.]

I would very much like to try them, then.

Did you enjoy the snow today?
