Here we go again with the year-end meme. Again ganked from Karen, again reminded to do it because she already has.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
Drove to Alabama. Traveled alongside a band. Made it possible to listen to vinyl in my own home. Wore very short skirts and enjoyed every second of it. Had a one-night stand (unrelated to the preceding point). WENT TO A HANSON CONCERT. TWICE. I'm still getting over that. Oh, the lulz, they'll get you every time...
2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions?
I don't remember if I set any this year. So if I did, I guess not. =P
3. Did anyone close to you have a child?
Nope. Just a dog.
4. What countries did you visit?
None. But I finally got my passport, so the opportunity is there (just not the money /o\).
5. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting to the point where I feel free enough to admit that I'm a bit lost right now. Everyone around me is so gung-ho about careers, their future, being adults, and I'm just...here. Nowhere. It turns out that even after college I still don't know what I'm doing, but I'm enjoying the hunt. If being a grown-up takes away my adventures, then I don't want it.
6. What was your biggest failure?
See question 5.Not finding a job yet that allows me my fun, but considering that I haven't spent YEARS working towards this newer career path option, I'm allowed some time.
7. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yeah I lost my writing brain. If you see it, send it back because I still enjoy writing. Other than that, healthy as a hobo.
8. What was the best thing you bought?
I'm sure there's an answer in the back of my brain that's a far smarter and more meaningful purchase but OMFG TAUNTAUN SLEEPING BAG. This thing has made my decade.
9. Where did most of your money go?
Camera equipment. Cute clothes. Music. Concerts, gas, food, & lodging. Geek toys.
10. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Getting my iPhone. I'm pretty pleased with it still.
11. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Generally happier, but my lows feel much worse.
b) thinner or fatter? Fatter. D: Gymnasium, what?
c) richer or poorer? Poorer. Another sad trend. I'm working on it.
12. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Going out and having fun when I was feeling down. I sit and mope way too much.
13. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Relying on my credit cards for big purchases. I'm still paying stuff down from the summer.
14. How will you be spending Christmas?
At home with the family. It'll be the first year we get Frank and Samantha for this holiday, so we're going big or going home (hahahaaaaaa, we're already home). It'll be Sam's first year in her *cough* years of life not being with her family on Christmas, but I'm still excited to have them here and I hope she can still enjoy her holiday with her in-laws. Who will have a lot of food.
15. What was your favorite TV program?
Supernatural, Project Runway, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, LOST. I actually stopped watching Heroes this last season and I just can't get back on track with it.
16. What was the worst book you read?
I actually didn't read anything terrible this year. However, I guess if I have to give an answer, I didn't like Lolita as much as I'd hoped I would. The story is really good and entrancing but the main character pissed me off soooooo much. I don't LIKE people as narcissistic as him and to be in his head made it a billion times worse. So condescending and rude and I wanted to kick him in his pedophile balls.
17. What was your favorite song of 2009?
"Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga.
18. What did you want and not get?
A fun and creative job, but eh, what're you gonna do? Also, no ink this year. Just never got around to it.
19. What did you want and get?
Time to think, feedback on tough subjects, a little bit of peace of mind.
20. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
I somehow collected a billion scarves. I dressed a little funkier than I have in years past and I enjoy it.
21. What kept you sane?
Friends and strangers alike. Good music, even better alcohol. Fun excursions.
22. Who was the best new person you met?
That would be Miss Amber from Houston. Met her in Austin at a Cab show and we pretty much instantly clicked (we were making fun of WEIRD!fangirls, it was wonderful).
23. Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
Don't think so. Did some things other people might regret but I do not.
24. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
Life sucks, deal with it. Also, don't do something to try to look cool when you're pretty sure it won't work (actually, do I EVER learn that lesson?).
25. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"And if you listen very hard
The truth will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll."
-Led Zeppelin, "Stairway to Heaven"
26: What are your plans for 2010?
Continue looking for work I like. Travel more. See someplace other than more of America. More ink. Sleep more?
^_^
