RP Log: Colton and Nash

Jun 30, 2006 11:50

Nash: *boards Colton’s ship - which is docked and quietly heads for his room. Gently, he knocks on the door*

*A guard answers the door* Yes?

Nash: I came to speak with Colton.

*The guard opens the door and lets Nash into Colton's quarters. It is a room set like an office. Colton sits in the chair behind the desk*

Nash: *grinning* How is it going, Colton?

Colton: *raises a brow at the Harmonian* What do you want?

Nash: What do I want? I believe it's more like what do you want.

Colton: And what is it that I want?

Nash: *removes from his pocket, the Sindar book which he had stolen from Cray, and begins to wave it around* Ta-da!

Colton: *eyes it warily* What am I supposed to do with that?

Nash: Who knows? I had heard you wanted this. Badly. Enough to kill.

Colton: Enough to kill? No.

Nash: No? Well, I suppose from the looks of it you aren't as interested as I had hoped for. Well, I hope you don't mind if I burn this book then.

Colton: Let's not do anything rash. Tell me what you want. If you went to the trouble of getting that book...there's some sort of motive to your plan.

Nash: I think it would make things a lot easier if you tell me what you planned to do with this book first. I went through the trouble of getting it, after all.

Colton: I never wanted that book.

Nash: Poor Cray. Are you saying I had to spill his innocent blood for nothing?

Colton: *snorts* Are you trying to impress me? If you want to impress me...*glares at Nash*

Nash: Well, I had tried to impress you, but this book is worthless to me now. I might as well go burn it.
Nash: *waves book around once more, almost tauntingly*

Colton: *sighs* Wait. Let me see it.

Nash: I'm afraid I can't give the book to someone who couldn't careless about it in the first place.

Colton: If I take the book, what do you want from me?

Nash: Who said anything about giving you this book?

Colton: You just did you idiot.

Nash: I'm afraid you're reading into things, as usual. I stated I couldn't give the book to someone who didn't give a damn, but I never said I would give it to someone who cared.
Nash: But, I lied. I was never planning to burn this book in the first place.
Nash: Now that I have your attention, I want you to tell me how to use it. What you had planned for it.

Colton: I can't read it. I was going to find someone who could and go from there.

Nash: Did you have anyone in mind?

Colton: I was hoping to convince Cray to translate it.

Nash: *annoyed* Why would Cray want to translate something you had attempted to steal from him to begin with?

Colton: People can be convinced.

Nash: If that’s true... perhaps letting him live was a good thing.
Nash: Can I trust you?

Colton: *scoffs* Trust me to do what?

Nash: You're going to talk to Cray, of course.

Colton: I have nothing to say to him.

Nash: You're going to convince him.
Nash: If you want this book - or any of its secrets which I assume you were after, you will have to do me this small favor.

Colton: Why do you want to read the book?
Colton: Or perhaps I should say, what's in this for you?

Nash: Power. Knowledge. Whatever this book has to offer.

Colton: *tents his fingers* Then if we were to enter this partnership, I would require your help in getting Cray to talk. I'm afraid I'm not in a position to execute any sort of plan--being under suspicion all the time does that to your effectiveness, you know.

Nash: I'm afraid that Queen would not allow this.
Nash: Nor Rekion or Cray himself.
Nash: Well, I suppose we can talk to him by force. I won't doubt that there will be plenty of bodyguards surrounding him though.

Colton: *raises a brow* Are you ready to listen to my thoughts on how we will get him to talk?

Nash: *grins* Speak.

Colton: The most effective means of gaining what you desire from a person is not to attack them directly--it is to take away what they love.

Nash: We're talking about Queen?

Colton: We are.
Colton: What's more pitiful than a lost pregnant woman and a man too injured to protect her? Of course, we'll have to deal with the dog...

Nash: I like where this is going. How unfortunate, this boy is madly inlove with the girl he is about to slay.

Colton: Queen? Or are you like the good doctor and prefer your sexual relations with those of other species?

Nash: Well, what do you think?
Nash: I'm talking about this boy.

Colton: Let's hope its Queen. But we are not going to kill her.

Nash: We aren't? Well, I would still love to see the look on her face when I show up.

Colton: If you want to be able to read this book, bring Queen to my ship. We'll find a nice place to lock her up--probably in a cavern that I know. Plausible Deniability, you see.

Nash: Giving me orders now. How interesting.
Nash: Whatever. I think I am fit for this kind of thing, anyway.
Nash: If you have nothing else to add, then I shall depart and bring Queen back to you.

Colton: *rolls a pen between his fingers* What will you do about the dog? I'd love a new pelt rug, if you can manage it.

Nash: I don't care for the dog. If she gets in my way, I will just have to kill her.

Colton: If you do, bring me the pelt. As much as I want a rug, I know another who would pay handsomely for it.

Nash: I will keep that in mind. *grins*

Colton: *nods to him and grins* Very well. I await your successful return.

Nash: *places the book back into his pocket, waves and walks off*
