I spent Friday evening with an ex-roommate of mine (auntie em was in Topeka visiting her mum), because the poor man somehow found himself with a bulging disc a few weeks back. He's received two of the three cortisone injections, and he's hated every. single. one of them. As with you, the last time involved not getting enough anthesthesia, so he found out what it's like to feel the injection; needless to say, he wasn't happy
( ... )
Ugh, that sounds horrible. I've had lots of these shots, and they always hurt, but not because the doctor is being a dick. I'm really sorry.
And I'll echo what skipmagic said above - it's probably not legal to fire you when you're on medical leave. Check out the employment laws in your state.
First off, I like the joke. Cheesy. Just my style. :)
I was a temp and was hired permanent right about the time of the accident, so there was no time for me to get any kind of medical leave benefits. That's the tricky thing. I fall right into the cracks when it comes to my benefits, so they can pretty much do what they want. It's a big bummer, but the one bonus is that it means that much sooner that I can rush to go to Amsterdam. We weren't sure how soon we were going to do it, but now there's not too much reason for me to hang out here. Unless the absolute worst happens and I were to need surgery. But the epidurals are supposed to take care off all that, right? (So why isn't the damn bulge going down, already?)
Man, this sucks. I'm sorry to hear about all this mess. Maybe, though, you'll be around better by the end of the month and work won't be an issue anymore. And better yet, maybe this just spells "move to Amsterdam" just a little bit faster for you.
A joke -
Two hunters are in the woods. One drops dead and the other one freaks out and calls 911 on his cell phone.
"I think my friend is dead!" The operator replies, "Calm down sir. Okay, first I need you to make sure your friend is dead."
The hunter puts down the phone. There is a moment of silence, broken by the sound of a gunshot.
The hunter gets back on the phone. "Okay, now what?"

Would your employer be willing to hire a temp until you get back?
