Poll: Auction Closing Time

Aug 22, 2010 19:18

because there has been some concern about the present closing time for bidding, Saturday August 28th, 11:59 EST. Unfortunately, the closing time will not be optimal for everyone as we have people from many time zones but this is where you can voice your opinion on the matter.

Also, please note that we would still start closing off new offers roughly ( Read more... )

I'm in EST and regularly play online games vs people in GMT and my best bet for catching them online for a match is usually 3PM EST. Either of the days with the 3PM seems agreeable.

I know I'm probably a small (okay, tiny) minority, but I'm on GMT +8, and that makes 3pm EST on Sunday 3am on Monday, which is all kinds of painful.

Ah! That sounds very painful indeed. This is getting very complicated with many timezones and I will try my best to accomodate everyone but I apologize in advance if it doesn't work out on your end for this round :(

For the record, let me know a few EST times that would suit your timezone and I will try to keep them in mind.

We're about 12 hours ahead of the EST timezone, so if it's 11:59pm on Friday there then it's 11:59am on Saturday here. I'm honestly fine with any of the timings except the one 3pm Sunday because it means staying up on Monday morning, but considering it's the most popular option right now, I'd understand why you'd have to schedule it there. Or if you can consider it, scheduling the closing of the auction an hour or two earlier would be nice.

i'm with causscion on this one! it would be great if we could get something a couple of hours earlier so those of us in other timezones (in asia, especially) don't have to stay up till 3/4 monday morning watching our threads!

I'd really like to ask you to add the corresponding GMT time, so that people like me who don't really know about timezones in the USA (and are too mathematically retarded to be able to deal with all the adds and subtractions till they get to their time) have easier time calculating their respective time.

As for when should the poll end, I voted 27th, but 3pm on 28th is still be fine.

3 PM EST = 8 PM GMT

11:59 PM EST = 4:59 AM GMT

I take it that 3 PM our time works better for you guys despite the dates :)

When will we know for sure if the auction time has been changed? I'd like to post about the auction and put up a countdown clock, but I don't want to do it until I'm sure of the end time. Thanks!

sorry to keep you hanging. I wanted to give the poll a few days and it looks like the best option for closing is going to be some time Sunday afternoon (likely around 1 or 2 PM EST, I haven't decided yet). I will be making some posts about important dates and times and procedures some time later today or tomorrow so keep an eye out for more details :)
