Poser is a program that literally allows you to build and pose various "character models" (people, dragons, sheep, aliens, cockroaches, etc.) in any way you can possibly imagine. For example, the snake at the center of "Road to Cubensia" is coiled when you first load it, but I stretched him out and made it so his body was weaving back and forth, opened his mouth, put his head in striking position and then took a snapshot of him at the angle you see, and ten copied it to Photoshop and placed it in the painting.
I can barely grasp how people actually make the models in the first place, but I'm getting decent at posing them.
