.014--Farewell

What ho. [His typical greeting is a little less exuberant than usual.]I'm sad to say that that I've come to the realization that this Wooster isn't really cut out for this job. It's a dashed tricky thing, wardening, a more convoluted process than making tea even. So the time has come for me to throw in the towel, make a strategic retreat, biff ( Read more... )

...did you just call making tea a convoluted process?

Quite so. There are so many fiddly steps and ways it could go terribly wrong. [And Bertie has probably inadvertently explored every single way that tea-making *could* go wrong.]

Or you just yell at your twin brother to make you some hourglass_twin November 13 2011, 14:48:41 UTC
...it's tea. You boil water. You put leaves in the water.

Ah, but boiling water is not as easy as it sounds. [Bertie actually failed at boiling water.]

I'm terribly sorry to see you go, Bertie. I had thought you were doing a fine job.

I rather miss the comforts of home, I'm afraid. I've never been on a cruise this long before; it takes more out of a chap than I expected, especially as there's not even a shuffleboard for distraction.

But I'd like to leave my collection of spirits to you, Georgie, and also one of my hats, since you are one of the few to understand the importance of a proper cover for the old onion.

I shall wear it for best.

When should I drop by?

Pop in whenever suits you, Georgie. I won't be leaving until tomorrow morning.

You do, Mr Wooster? It's most certainly appreciated, but not necessary.

I shall come to see you shortly, if you so wish.

Think nothing of it, my good fellow.

Do come by; I'll have the items packed up for you. [Maybe not packed well... Jeeves usually takes care of that sort of thing.]

Alright, I'll be there shortly.

[And he was, knocking on the door.]

[Bertie lopes across the room and opens the door.[

What ho, Doctor! Do come in.

Really, Bertie? Really?

Quite so. True, you may have destroyed a famous monument, but I'm sure it was all a misunderstanding. You're once of the most splendid fillies I know. Not at all like the girls who decide that I need to be wedded and moulded into something.

I'm very sorry about all that. Bertie, don't you think you should announce me graduated before you go? And give me a gift? It's only polite. [She wants your warden item.]

Have you graduated? I was sure there would be a certificate or some such.

And of course I'll gift you with a gift! Although I don't have much that would interest a beazel I should think. Something such as cufflinks wouldn't do at all.

I'm terribly sorry to biff off like this, Una. But, 'tis for the best. Parting is such...something. But I'd be pleased as could be to show you around the London clubs someday.

I'd like that very much, Bertie. I'll see you again.
