Thank you!!! :D They're just basic edits from Pokemon trainer sprites. So, I pick out a base from here, and choose a base I like. Then I copy it into Photoshop, and throw a layer on top of the original. Then I can change hair, colors, clothing, pose, etc. Shinji is the most heavily edited one of them, because I had to edit the arms and make him shorter and skinnier.

The hardest part is just figuring out how to express something like a smile or glasses in three pixels. And you can do it in pretty much any program. You could probably do it in paint, since it's just pixels, but I am a slave to layers. XD
